Parents, students, and community members are invited to attend the fourth annual Education Summit on Saturday, September 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Edison High School. The Education Summit is hosted by the Fairfax County School Board with appreciation to our sponsor, Deloitte LLP. This free event will focus on a Portrait of a 21st Century Graduate and School System. Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Karen Garza will be the keynote speaker. Following the keynote presentation, 10 breakout sessions will focus on real skills that parents can use to help their students succeed, including: The seven essential skills every child needs (the first 200 people to attend this session will receive a free copy of the book, Mind in the Making) -- optimal for parents of young children How to keep your kids safe on the Internet What parents need to know about depression and building resiliency Supporting academic success for children of military families Parenting for career and college success (the first 200 people to attend this session will receive a free Strengthfinders resource) – great for parents of middle and high schoolers Ways to boost your child’s academic success Interpreters will be available.
