Paris Saint Germain 4-2 Evian, January 18 2015, French Ligue 1 at Parc des Princes. Att: 45,561 (did not spot or hear any Evian support). The least inspiring 6-goal game I have ever attended. You would think that PSGs exorbitantly paid stars would be able to put on a decent performance in front of their home crowd. But think again. No pace, and no apparent commitment or energy. It was as if the PSG players felt confident that the accumulated individual skills would do the trick against a mediocre Evian. And they were proven right. Without managing to convince the home crowd, they pulled off a win. The PSG support performed even worse. To be fair, the ultras behind the goals did try to create something close to an atmosphere, but the vast majority of the fans seemed to be content with just watching this as if it was a televised match. No enthusiasm, no anger, no real support. No NOISE!! The Disneyfication of (modern) football climaxed when PSG scored their goals: Two guys on stools behind either goal would then stand up and dutifully (but mirthlessly) wave huge PSG banners. Anyway, this was also 10 days after the attacks on Charlie Hebdo, so I have included a couple of pics relating to that tragic event.....
