Parker unleashes a smashing finish to a fast break in his first home game.Jabari Parker gave his new fans an eyeful Friday, including a thunderous dunk in the Milwaukee Bucks home opener. That was the cherry atop the sundae. Parker, the NBA Drafts second overall pick, had 11 points and 10 rebounds for his first NBA double-double. He also hit his first 3-pointer. The bomb was the dunk, set up by O.J. Mayos no-look pass. Parker was chasing on a fast-break when he took the pass and delivered a two-handed slam. At 19, Parker is a cornerstone for the Bucks future. He could do worse than develop in the shadow of Mayo, who had 25 points, including 10 in the final quarter of a 93-81 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Its trusting one another out there and doing everything with energy and effort, Mayo said. Energy and effort will help us out a lot. Parker was quiet during the second half but philosophical about his role. Yeah, because we cant always control what we do out there, he said. We cant control if a team makes a shot, but we can control our effort and energy on defense. We just came together and pulled through for each other. The Bucks headed for Washington for Saturdays game against the Wizards. Also Friday, Bucks brass and guard Brandon Knights handlers ended talks on a contract extension. Barring a change of heart, Knight will play out his contract and become a free agent. It is unfortunate. I definitely wanted to get it done, Knight said. I love the organization. I love the coaching staff so far, and the players are like my brothers. It is unfortunate that it didnt happen, but I wont be worried about it throughout the year.
