Parliament ka Taqaddus says Ahsan Iqbal Sahab....hmmm; loving how suddenly the Parliamentarians have woken up. But I have my two cents to share and this I say to those who are pro-democracy. For starters, severe reactions, extreme positions, rude memes and assumptions that PTI supporters are not pro-democracy is a sad lack of judgment. While many may not be, many are very much pro-democracy and it is a democratic force, whether you like it or not, because democracys very foundation is the people. Saying they were a handful will not make a difference. This WAS the voice of the people. Right now, I will not speak to PML-N and other political parties who have been shown the mirror they needed to see. Right now I speak to those who had an Us VS Them stance throughout. In an already polarized society, your attacks have increased the gap instead of bridging it. PTI trolls were legendary and I condemn misbehaviour by them too. But what did you all do, the sane ones? Selectively, you went on about politics of agitation, inconvenience to citizens, threat to the state, threat to democracy. However you conveniently forgot the CAUSE and went on about the EFFECT. Do you think everybody in PTI agrees with an alliance with TuQ or the goons with dandas? Hell no. But in essence we stand by Imran Khan who has managed to mobilize the voters and questioned the inefficacy of a corrupt Parliament. Yesterday Senator Hasil Bizinjo seemed very sad about how These two have stripped all political parties. Sir, if you have nothing to hide, why fear criticism and transparency? It is great that everyone got this collective fit of democracy. But did you earlier act like a responsible citizen of Pakistan? Did you care to question the rulers? Did you ask where your vote went? Did you protest for Model Town killings irrespective of whether you like Qadri or not? Did you question why the roads to Bilawal House are blocked forever? Did you ask about follow up on the murder case of a young boy that made headline but later died out? Did you ever protest, peacefully, unarmed, with just placards, outside the Parliament (like the White House protests you keep quoting) why the Ahmadis were killed and nothing was done? Have you been speaking out on various forums regarding the atrocities against the Hazaras? Did you even vote? If yes to most of these, you have every right to have a debate on democracy. I know many of you did all this and when they point fingers at IKs modus operandi, fair enough. They have the face to criticize. But even to them I say you have no right to judge those who understand democracy differently than you. But those whose activism is limited to sub-standard jokes, insulting arguments and no substance, well... sorry but you really do not matter. And if you want to be of any consequence, well, let us see how much you will keep this Parliament under check and balance. If not, and all you do is vent on FB then go back to your cup of coffee and pulp fiction while people in Tharparkar and Pattoki continue to die at hands of the inefficiency of people you are protecting right now, then its sad. If nothing else, PROVE that you are civilized by hearing out others points of view. Do not create what the Quran calls fasaad by jeering at someones hope. If I start jeering at and making fun of PML-N followers right now, what does that say about me? Our leaders are a reflection of us! Improve yourselves first and for Gods sake hold on to your silence. This is not the time for point-scoring. Empathy starts with understanding the other point of view. God bless Pakistan. And may the sacred Parliament be cleaned of vile, ill-intentioned politicians. Ameen.
