Part of this falls on the pastors for not having the spine to speak the truth to a dying culture. However....the Church (the people) are not off the hook here....a lot of pastors that wont speak up....would like to speak up....but they get no support from their apathetic and pathetic congregations. The church is apathetic and disengaged because they are not regularly taught that the biblical worldview of engagement in the culture is more than simply telling people about salvation. The FULL gospel includes telling them about biblical principles that make their lives and the civil society work....which in turn aids the dispensation of the gospel to all peoples. Do you see how one thing depends on the other? Herein lies the rub with so many congregations that fly under the Christian banner today....they simply will not do the hard things ....that might turn people off....but the irony is that the world is crying out for those truths....that we wont give them...because we dont want to offend them. I dont say this to puff up my pastor, but I am so thankful for my pastor...and I will call him out by name...Sonny Holmes who gets this....in spades. He just completed a sermon series on engagement...and it could not have been more crystal clear. America needs more like him and others that I know....we desperately need a return to a new Black Regiment in our country today.
