Participating in WaterFire was a unique experience. Dressed in all - TopicsExpress

Participating in WaterFire was a unique experience. Dressed in all black, Cam and I hopped on boats to light fires along the Shenengo river. A Native American put on a show by standing atop a rock in the water and swinging two lit balls on the end of chains. Grandma Esther took us back to her place and we put off our departure for another day. In the morning we all headed to the Brookfield Methodist Church. All very nice people on the congregation. We were given coffee mugs. That day we took care of journaling and relaxing. I stocked up on some necessities at the store before packing. We were taken our to breakfast before leaving, and Esther helped me ship my package back home before hugs and see you laters were dealt. Walking with the 35 lb. backpacks was definitely a struggle. My hands kept falling asleep and we walked pretty slowly. Having the carts would have been impossible, going over these hills with no shoulder would have been exhausting, infuriating, and backbreaking. Missa, a woman who recognized us from WaterFire, stopped and took us out for lunch in Mercer and then dropped us off at the point where we stopped. We stopped in the lawn of the Mercer courthouse for lunch. We witnessed some entertainment. Following angry shouts from a nearby street, one group of guys wad being pursued by another group. One guy took off his shirt and began bouncing up and down in the road, looking ready for a fight and stopping traffic. At this point about 5 police cars showed up and began rounding up those involved. Some neck-tattooed dude from the projects sat by us to watch the show and explained what was going on. We headed out. I found a pair of sunglasses on the side of the road. A kind stranger met us at the end of her driveway to give us water and some snacks. I have her my banner and she tried to get a hold of some folks up the road to possibly find us a place to sleep. I didnt hear from her and the sun was setting so we set camp in some woods at a cemetery. We made it through the night without being haunted and took off at sunrise. It rained in a valley we were walking through so we stayed under a campgrounds roof on the porch until the rain let up. We saw several porcupine on the road. Cam needed an emergency blanket shipped to a town ahead of us so I got in touch with Grandma Esther. She drove an hour in order to reach us. She not only brought us the blanket, but also handwarmers, socks, and subway sandwiches!!! She offered to take us back to her place for the night and then drive us back out in the morning. So we showered, are pizza, watched tv and did a load of laundry before talking asleep. This morning we got breakfast and were driven out to Rocktown, the small place we had left off. We said goodbye and hit the hills. Thank you for everything!!!
