Partners in Crime. Thats what this feels like. An overwhelming number of my so called friends here are nameless and sightless. I try to reach out and connect to the person behind their headless photos or their fake ones. Eitherways, it seems like I am intruding their sacred space. Most of us here are our alter egos. Those egos that dare not come out of their hiding. More like criminals - and thats why partners in crime. Thats where FB fails, miserably. It makes us criminals remain criminals. It was meant to be a page where friends from the real world can connect to each other and stay connected. What we are doing here is the opposite - we are friends from the online world, with common interests and most of us stay that way. The transition to real world is hard, fraught with suspicion and is a journey most of us would not like to fathom, not to mention otherwise which could be savored. And thats not to say Ive not fallen prey to the same idiosyncrasies - perhaps around 5 years now. Well, before that on Orkut for another 4 years - thats 9 years in total. Around 300+ friends over the years. Wow! Thats a lot. Thats a lot, yes, of missed opportunities. Opportunities to understand you better, know you, your passions, your drives, your happiness, your fears, your issues, your ambitions, your failures, your hits, your misses - even though it can be limited in our common interests itself. No, :) this is not an invitation for a meet up! Nor do I think that I can come out of this criminal mindset that quickly. But I think, its time to explore - the human side of all this, the real side of our make believe world, and most importantly, face the real real underlying reason why this spirit of being feminine is hard to put behind us. And why we continue to flock here after all those years and revel in those few moments of joy - and share that joy with a select group of Criminals like ourselves here. With only a hope, for a lot of us, that someday, we would have the courage to share those in person. Three Cheers to that undying spirit girls ....
