Attorney Kim Cooks, Kim Cooks has been a practicing Trial Attorney for the past 11 years. Her primary practice is Family Law and she has extensive experience in a variety of family law cases. She is currently a judicial candidate for the 255th Family District Court in Dallas County. She is licensed and has practiced law in Florida, Georgia, and Texas and has practiced in the areas of environmental law and justice, family law, juvenile law, construction law and litigation. On November 3, 2008, Judge Nash was appointed to the Texas Judicial Council by Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson of the Supreme Court of Texas. Chief Justice Jefferson reappointed her to a second term to serve on the Council on January 25, 2013. The Texas Judicial Council is the policy making body for the state judiciary. Precinct 1 Place 1, Judge Thomas Jones, Thomas G. Jones, Justice of the Peace for Dallas County, participated in the PTA for 11 years before deciding to run for election to the DISD Board of Education. Concerned about his own daughter’s education and that of other students, Mr. Jones said, “We have to try to come up with some new and creative ways of getting our children to “drop in on education and not to drop-out”. Mr. Jones served two terms on the School Board (1987- 1992). And from January 1991, to June 1992, Mr. Jones served a dual capacity as School Board Representative, District VI and Justice of the Peace, (Precinct 7) now Precinct 1 Place 1. In June 1992, Judge Jones decided not to seek re-election to the school board.
