Pascal spent the day ay the vets office. He chucked his dinner for several days running, but yesterday he was barfing fairly often for a couple hours after kibbles. So we were watching him on a trip outside and he tossed several times, then started bowing. Like when they stretch, front feet way out, head down, butt high in the air. Thats a sign that a dog is experiencing abdominal pain. Its a scary thing for us to see - he hasnt done it since about 8 years ago, when we almost lost him to pancreatitis. Thats what the vet thinks is wrong now, too. So all hes had tonight is water and about a half-cup of rice and special (holy carp spendy) fat-free kibbles. He wants more, and his fever is down - both good signs - but too much too soon will kick up the problem again. Well see tomorrow - just a tiny breakfast for him, and Ill try to come home early. I wish it was Friday now... and thats the end of him licking dinner plates clean, gnawing the last little bits of a steak or chops off the bone. I guess Id rather disappoint him than lose him. Maybe I can start making him some custom-diet cookies...
