Pasco County firefighters received a report of a residential structure fire on Cox Drive in Land O’ Lakes at 10:03 p.m. Saturday evening. Crews arrived on the scene ten minutes later to find a single story home that was well-involved, with fire transmitting from the roof and from the rear of the structure. A total of twenty-seven firefighters from six different stations were needed to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought quickly under control, however due to the age and construction of the home, there were many challenges in extinguishing the fire, which ultimately took several hours to fully mitigate. Three firefighters received minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. At press time, two of the three firefighters had been released with one remaining for additional observation. Investigators remain on the scene this morning searching for the cause.
