Passing of the quilt. For those of you who dont know the story of the quilt. Here is it: THE FAMILY TREE QUILT In 1989 Zella McAnelly made the family tree quilt. The grandchildren were added in 2008. Betty Rae apparently was the first sibling to ask to have the quilt. She was given the quilt with agreement that she had to give the quilt to the next sibling when asked for. However, with the McAnelly’s asking was not something that was done. Siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews would come to Mom and Dad’s house and “steal” the quilt. Mom would then have to determine who had the quilt and go retrieve it. When she asked, she was always given the quilt back. Mom (Betty Rae) also became sneaky, when she knew family was coming to visit, she would send the quilt home with Clea, Steve, or Jani, so when “asked” she could honestly say, it’s not in my house”. The quilt has now been transferred to JoAnn McRoy, the oldest of the sisters. Guardian of the quilt Andrew McRoy, JoAnn, and Bob Jones are in the picture.
