Passion Passion is an interesting word. I am confident, if asked, most of us would give up a slightly different definition. Most would ultimately wrap it around love but many would associate it with hate. The more religious would perhaps link it to the passion of the Christ. Before I go any further I would like to bastardize an old proverb.....let he who is without sin stay stoned. I mention that so I might get out of the way that I am not pretending to have some special insight into a most peculiar emotion that the rest of you dont have - quite the opposite; I am very comfortable among sinners and have been known to be vilified among the leadership. Any passion I might have is hard won and long in the making. My wife and I have been lucky to work in the same field and better still the same office for better than twenty years. That has been very much a pleasure. I wont try to talk for her but I believe she might share the same opinion. Working together has made the work much more enjoyable and our partnership in marriage a deeper relationship. Work has embraced passion at times but I would be lying to conclude that my profession defines my most precious achievement. Stay with me! Thats not my message. Cheryl likes to ride horses. It is something she identified early in our relationship. Back then we would sit down and write out our one year goals, our five year goals and so forth. The horse came up there. Not long after she was the proud owner of a four year old Morgan. That journey has been filled with tremendous learning and passion. She has learned the many requirements of the horse. She can tend to his feet, teeth, ya and that too - nope I would never clean It, no way. She has taken lessons in traditional genres of horsemanship and come to embrace a particular brand of natural horsemanship. She has taken classes, read books, watched videos and worked hard to embrace her passion. While Cheryl continues her passion with the horse, I have been on a journey of my own. I love to write, always have and I hope I always will. I have forever written poems and short stories. In recent years I have ventured into novels and songs with a passion that all but envelops me. Thanks for staying with me - here we go. Cheryl and I might to all appearances have gone our separate ways. The reverse would be true. We sit and discuss our passions. She tells me about the new trail she was on, the latest achievement with Shadow (yup the horse), the next challenge. I discuss with her my trepidation about singing in public where I have no trouble talking but lack of self-confidence singing. We compare what we must do to move on and/or improve whatever we are working on. The passion for what we do is most evident. The experiences we are able to share with each other are both helpful and a wonderful sign that we are doing very different things but we are both on the same journey. We share the passion. What the one experiences does much to help and understand the other.
