Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion New Years Eve 2015 Revelation 22:12–13, “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” When Jesus says that He is coming quickly, He means that all of the events of His second coming will happen suddenly. They will occur at a time when we least expect them, with no warning, as we are going about our everyday lives. So what is it that you will be found involved in when the rapture of the church comes (the first event of the period of His second coming)? Here the Lord gives us a current motivation because of His future plan. Remember what Jesus said to the seven churches in chapters 2 and 3 of this book? I know your works, or I know what you do and why you do it. A couple of devotions ago, we saw the judgment of the world and its destruction. The born-again believer will also stand before the Lord in judgment. This is not for judgment that will bring condemnation, but judgment for rewards. When your works are tested, will they have a lasting spiritual significance, or will they reflect a carnal indifference? When Jesus says that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last”, He is telling us that He is the first and last word on everything. His first words were, In the beginning God... (Genesis 1:1). His last words were, Surely I am coming quickly. (Revelation 22:20). The words of the bible that are between these two statements give us a lifetime of instruction and training for godliness. The person who receives this instruction, and does it, will hear the Lord say, Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord. (Matthew 25:21) Job 19:26–27, And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
