Pastor’s Devotional June 24, 2013 “Disciples on Display” Victory just finished our First Discipleship Revival. Jesus’ Great Commission found in Matthew 28: 19-20, tells his followers to go and make more followers in all nations. Jesus’ Great Commission has become the Great Omission in many churches today. An inordinate focus on wealth and health has caused many churches not to focus on discipleship. As a result, the Christian faith is not winning more converts. People are not won to Christianity until they see his transforming power in the lives of those closest to them (2 Corinthians 5: 17). This is a generation of those who profess Christ as their savior and Lord, but deny him by the ungodly lives that they lead (2 Timothy 3: 1-5). Reverend Darryl Finney stated in his sermon on discipleship at Victory this past Sunday, four critical aspects of discipleship. They were: desire, discipline, decision and destiny. All of these elements are essential; and when put into practice, you will see “Disciples on Display”, letting their light shine brightly in an unbelieving world (Matthew 5:14-16). “Faith in Action” In what ways do you show others daily, that you are a disciple of Christ?
