Patriarch Laham appeals for international outcry over mortar attacks in Syria Nov 18, 2013 Beirut, (SANA)_ Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregorios III Laham of Antioch and All the East said the cowardly terrorist attacks with mortars against schools in Damascus target, first and foremost, the educational process there. Targeting churches, patriarchates, houses, properties, cars and charities in Syria with mortars is discriminately killing the elderly, women, men, young people, children and students, he said in an appeal on Monday. Laham called for speaking out against this cowardly war waged against defenseless civilians. Laham regretted that no word has come out against these attacks apart from Pope Francis who lambasted the attacks, standing up for the dignity of the humans, especially innocent students in their schools and in school buses. He warned of cowardly attempts targeting the Christians in the Middle East to intimidate them and make them prey to fear and frustration until driving them out of their countries.
