Patriotism unfurls as we pass through OUR country - past rolling hills, prairies, forest, and mountains. Last night we attended the sunset ceremony at Mt Rushmore. The ceremony brought tears to my eyes and imposed a time of reflection and stillness within me. It was amazing and inspiring to see this magnificent monument. A tribute to the American dream, sacrifices and dedication. It was inspiring to be reminded of all our great country has achieved. We are not elitist - we are AMERICANS - home of the free and the brave. A country that throughout our history have been leaders, innovators, over comers and achievers. We shall not compromise our convictions in the name of political correctness nor stand idle as others threaten all which we hold sacred. The ceremony closed with the Park Ranger asking ALL veterans and active duty military members to come to the stage (amid this massive amphitheater). Nearly 100 men and women descended down the hand hewn steps and stood on stage as we stood and honored them... We clapped and cheered then listened as each one introduced themselves and their branch of service - from the WWII veteran to the newly enlisted - what an experience this was for them to stand at the foot at Mt Rushmore - an iconic symbol of all they have pledged to defend and all the sacrifices made. Freedom is not free and these men and women along with countless others and their families has served so that we may enjoy and cherish those freedoms. We sang the national anthem - then the soldiers assisted in retiring the flag. Yes - patriotism unfurled last night - and we were truly blessed to bear witness!!!
