Patterned Brick: John Remington House 1728, outside Roadstown, Hopewell Township, Cumberland County. Flemish Bond with vitrified headers, which were also used in creating the date, initials and design on the end wall. Headers are the bricks placed in the wall with the short end facing out. Vitrified means the brick was fired in the kiln longer, till the surface started to melt and turn a bluish color.
