Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints - TopicsExpress

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Ephesians 1:1. For years I was taught, as I am sure many of you were, that we are but sinners saved by grace. Yet here we see Paul addressing the people of Ephesus as SAINTS. So if this is what Paul says that, given what God had revealed to him, we are to be, then why in the world do we want to hang on to this sad, sad mantra? Of course I know that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and I am aware that we still commit sins after accepting Christ. Yet if sinning is no longer our chosen lifestyle, but instead a tell of our own short comings, should we still label ourselves as sinners? I am not suggesting that we become full of ourselves and act as if we are above temptation and sin, but do we really need to label ourselves in such a degrading manner? If I am but a sinner, even one saved by grace, then was I truly saved? As a child of God, we are to put away our old selves and take up the new that Christ has provided. With their being such power in words, should we not see ourselves as Paul shows us by calling us saints as opposed to sinners? If we were more apt to see ourselves as God does, then maybe the burden of our struggle might be less.
