Paul gives us another insightful and encouraging word in Philippians 2:14-16. “Do all things without grumbling or questioning.” Now that is a ‘tall order.’ The reason he wants us to live life this way is so we may be blameless and innocent children of God. I am afraid the world watches we Christians and they listen to us and they think, ‘why should I become a Christian. Listen to how they talk and act.’ Even within the body of believers, where we should have one mind, Christ’s mind, we seem to more often disagree than agree with each other. What a tragedy. We should shine as lights in a dark and perverse world. Then Paul tells us how we can live according to the standard he sets before us: “hold fast to the word of life.” Ahhh, the key to living as Jesus would have us live in harmony and unity is to focus on and be obedient to the word of God. So, anytime you feel like grumbling or questioning, especially that which is going on in the church, go to the Word of God, the Holy Bible. It is more than a book; it is God’s word, God’s directives to each of us.
