Pay it forward. This happens quite a bit at the Valpo Aldi, but this time it was so special.. A middle aged woman attempted to pay for her $42.00 in groceries yesterday. Her bank card was declined three times. each time I voided a few more items to lower the price in hopes for approval, while the look of embarrassment, shame, and helplessness overcame her face a little more each time that it continued to decline her card.. Finally it was down to the basics..not even able to buy the garnishes for her tacos.. The store was jam packed! Customers behind her in line showing the look of sorrow for this poor lady. Finally the lady next in line put her arm around the lady and said, I dont have much, but heres $5, I wish I had more to help you.. The lady begun to cry, mixed emotions Im sure... Then the 3Rd customer in line handed me $10 to put towards her groceries.. Each time I was a adding a few more things back to her cart that were originally voided. The lady was so emotional at this point! Tears were flowing ! The lady who have her the first $5 asked her if she had children honey? She cried harder and said yes. She then handed her $20 more, and said nobody should have to struggle for food. Now like 4 people were crying in my line! (including me) . Finally, everyone in my line handed the lady cash. She didnt want to accept it..but they were shoving it in her purse since her cart was once again full!!! I said This is pay it forward! Weve all been there, but SOMEONE wink.wink. Is looking out for you she was hysterical. Clearly, this was a blessing from God! I got the feeling that she might not know him very well.. But I assure you she will now! Beautiful right? Not done yet!! Another customer whispered in my ear, I just bought a ton of food to donate to the food pantry.. Im bringing it to her car. And she did. I wish I could have seen that! I wish I could have prayed with her right then, the spirit was so strong!! Pay it forward. It makes our world go round!
