Peace on Earth No writing tonight or for the next few nights. I’m in filming mode. Lois and I spent this evening syncing sound to story-board so we can make our shots as economical as possible. None of our productions have been so well-planned with more equipment. I predict we’re going to step up and make this one level greater. So, the soundtrack to the inspiration was a YouTube video of Bing Crosby and David Bowie doing “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy” from 1977. And, if you’re as old as we are, you remember when that happened. This was a live recording on a Bing Crosby Christmas special on one of these three networks. Look at the bottom – we’ll provide a link. But, let me finish what I was saying. At the onset of this recent viewing and our video, I recognized the harmony was just a little bit off. I looked much closer. They brought it around town, and David Bowie rocked the house. I can remember, back then, and even to this day, I never thought much of his sissy ass. But, when I watched that initial viewing, I went, “My goodness. What an artist.” I even stood up and said, “Lois!” A little bit of poetic license there – I didn’t actually stand up. But, I said, “Lois! We’re going to make a video out of this.” So, the endeavour began. We talked it out and hashed it out. I think she punched me once; and I said, “Yes. I think that’s a good idea.” But, anyway, we came up with a story board; and I have a pool of cast members I can draw upon. Wham … b’damn … we’re getting ready to import the 99-cent digital audio. She played it to me a couple of times. But, she said to me, “That’s not the same recording.” I said, “By God, it better be. I paid 99 cents for that.” So, she started playing it to me. “Listen,” she said. I listened. And, their harmony was still a little screwed up at the start. After a couple of roundhouse lefts from her, she said, “No. Really. Listen to this. It’s not the same.” We started comparing them side by side – the original vs. your digital download available today. You won’t believe what has happened over the years. This sweet, original, live recording with David Bowie taking the lead, lying atop of Bing Crosby – if you try to purchase a recent recording, apparently – over the decades, this thing has been remastered. Now, Bing has the lead. It’s amazing. You Bill Board 4-headed, child-beating piece of shit. I’m verklempt. I’m going to bed.
