New Mexico School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble Winter Concert The New Mexico School For The Arts Jazz Ensemble will perform on Saturday, January 17, at 7:00pm, in the Large Rehearsal Hall at the NMSA campus at the corner of East Alameda and Paseo de Peralta. The NMSA Jazz Ensemble is comprised of sixteen music and voice students under the direction of John Trentacosta and Bert Dalton. The concert is free and open to the public; donations accepted at the door. Students will perform compositions by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Horace Silver, Mongo Santamaria, Ivan Lins, Nat Adderly, Sonny Rollins, and a vocal feature by Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross. The diverse instrumentation of the ensemble includes piano, bass, guitar, drums, percussion, vibes, oboe, trumpet, violins, cellos, and vocalists. The performing musicians are Jason Duncan, Gavin Laur, Brass Burapa, Zar Kunde, John McCarthy, Telo Hoy, Adam Ulm, Annabella Farmer, Lila Baca, Bee Vozza, Ariana Thoksakis, Hanna Zercher, Maggie King, Genevieve Conley, Gabriella Ottersberg, and Megan Weider. NMSA was a recipient of the national Arts Schools Network Exemplary School Designation at their annual conference in Denver earlier this year, and has been graded an “A” school for the third year in a row from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
