Peace with India in jeopardy: Pakistan has very strongly rejected Indian media’s allegations about an attack across the Line of Control in the Poonch Sector about which the Indian officials claim and their media propagates that five Indian soldiers were killed by Pakistani soldiers. The Indian allegation has come at a time when the two countries are about to restart peace process which had been interrupted many times. Since long Pakistan is endeavoring to normalize relations with its neighbour, India. However, somehow or the other the process of dialogue gets derailed, mostly due to the stubborn and inflexible attitude of the latter. Whenever a process of dialogue gets impetus, an environment is created by India to exert pressure on Pakistan to tilt results in its favour. Resultantly the dialogue either does not start at all or gets delayed. If at all it is initiated, it ends up with no tangible results. The last few months developments in this regard are reflective of the attitude of the two countries. After the formation of new government, Pakistan has explicitly expressed its desire to resolve all issues with its neighbor in a peaceful manner. Pakistan’s prime minister, even before assuming the office; vowed to invite his Indian counterpart. He himself reiterated many a times, the Pakistan’s will to negotiate on all matters. On the contrary, Indian premier, though invited Pakistan’s prime minister, and tried to reciprocate, nevertheless, the subsequent attitude and the activities clearly manifest the hollowness of its desire. There had been border violations from Indian side after such reciprocations. Recently, there has been an air violation of Pakistan’s air space by pilot less Indian vehicles (drones). Besides, the unabated atrocities of Indian Occupation Forces on innocent Kashmirs in the held Kashmir and continuation of construction work on Pakistan bound rivers are also reflective of the non seriousness of Indian attitude towards resolution of conflict. In fact India is obsessed with the idea of assuming the charge of regional policeman for which she is inclined to look right through. This helps her attaining a status at par with china and if not exactly that but somewhere closer to it. As a matter of fact Pakistan has already done a lot for normalization of relations with its archrival neighbor. It has agreed to talk on the Siachen matter which tantamount to bailing out India from an issue where it is facing greater inconvenience and expenditures than Pakistan. Resumption of bus services, exchange of cultural delegations, easing the visa formalities and initiation of various other Confidence Building measures (CBMs) are probably all in line with Indian desires and to its benefit. Pakistan has also cooperated with the utmost honesty to help investigate Mumbai carnage. Has also taken stringent steps against terrorism with a view to prevent its outflow towards any other country particularly India. In 2010 Pakistan signed Afghan Trade Agreement allowing India to carryout trade activity through Pakistani soil which benefitted India equally, rather more as it was allowed to unload goods at wagha border using the shortest possible route. It is holding little short of declaring it’s neighbor the status of a most favorite nation. Some segment of Pakistani society have even gone too far ahead and to an extent in India’s adore, probably which refute the foundation of Pakistan i.e Two Nation theory. On the contrary, India has no longing to talk about it’s alleged involvement in Pakistan’s province of Balochistan despite the fact that during a summit at Sharm-el-Shaikh in 2009, the Balochistan issue was included in a joint statement of the premiers of the two countries. Mere inclusion of the issue in a joint statement tantamount to its acceptance by India in principle. Pakistan’s statement in this regard was explicit and unambiguous. However, India made no efforts to prevent such involvement or even investigate the matter to pacify Pakistan. Furthermore, the atrocities and human rights violations in Kashmir are a routine matter. According to a report (Kashmir media service) there had been grand massacre (around one hundred thousand deaths) of innocent Muslims during the last two decades. Taking into account the incidents of July 2013 only, about forty people were killed and four thousand injured in one month only. This does not include the Muslims arrested or their children orphaned or the cases of women molestation. With regards to the dispute over water utilization, India is not only holding back rather using Pakistan’s share of water in contravention to Indus Basin Water Treaty. Despite Pakistan’s repeated protests over construction of Buglihar Dam, it has not paid any heed to the Pakistan’s concern. Under such circumstances, without the Kashmir and Baluchistan issues (Indian involvement) on board the resumption of dialogue with India may not yield meaningful results. Therefore, it seems imperative for intelligentsia of the country to ponder upon and adopt a firm and unequivocal stance over such issues. This will not only help resolve a long outstanding dispute over Kashmir which is central to the normalization of relations, it may help resolve water dispute and its distribution as well.
