Pearls of Islam! Salam to humanity You are the author of your own book of deeds that will be presented to you on the Day of Judgment. Hows the story looking thus far? Having Good Manners When Forbidding The Evil. Shaykh ‘Abdullaah ‘Azzaam said: “Commanding the good and forbidding the evil requires a person who loves the people; a person who looks at the bigger picture; a person with a gentle tongue. Do not come to one and say, ‘I hate you for the sake of Allah because you do this or that.’ Are you not able to say, instead, ‘I love you for the sake of Allaah, my brother. Howevr, I saw a simple and small mistake from you.’” [Fee Dhilaal Soorah At-Tawbah, p.75] Fatimah Naysapuri (rahimahallah) Fatimah Naysapuri (rahimahallah) was a woman of outstanding piety and wisdom. The great saint Zun-Noon Misri (rahimahullah) says, “She is a friend of Allah Ta’ala and my teacher.” She passed away in Makkah Mukarramah on her way for umrah in 223 A.H. She used to say, “The person who does not remember Allah Ta’ala falls into every type of sin and blurts out anything and everything that comes onto the tongue. As for the person who remembers Allah Ta’ala all the time, Allah Ta’ala makes him dumb to everything except the truth and makes him have shame for Him and sincerity.” (Sifatus Safwah vol. 2, pg. 315) Lesson: Today we spend hours talking away with family and friends, without the least remembrance of Allah Ta’ala. Thus we fall into the worst of sins at times. The question that we need to ask ourselves is, when last did we speak about Allah Ta’ala or Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) in our meetings and conversations? That tongue which has been given to us as a gift to take the blessed name of Allah Ta’ala is taking the name of everything but Allah Ta’ala. Let us make the change. Plan in advance of what subtle and brief reminder you will give to those you are going to be talking to. It does not have to be a lecture. A subtle short and sweet message in a friendly and informal way is sometimes more effective than a long lecture.
