Pecking at Our Trials I just watched a tiny little bird, - TopicsExpress

Pecking at Our Trials I just watched a tiny little bird, probably a Chickadee, chase a squirrel away from the birdhouse hanging outside our family room window. I’ve seen the bird go in and out all summer and assume the small creature has made a home there and is raising a family. ( It does seem late in the season.) The squirrel was persistent in his interest in the bird house. The grey bird dive bombed the squirrel, pecking him with its long, sharp beak over and over. In spite of the reality that the squirrel was easily 30 times larger than the momma bird, she didn’t give up. She attacked and attacked until the furry animal finally scampered to a far away tree well out of reach of Mrs. Chickadee’s persistent pecking. What an example from nature! When we are attacked by the forces of evil or the threat of an opponent larger than we are in skill, knowledge, or position, we should not simple give up and quit. God will enable us and show us how to ward off attacks. He will help us carve out a niche for a talent or skill He has given us. He will help us maintain a testimony for Christ. God will equip us for whatever battles life brings. Just like Mrs. Chickadee, persistence is a key. We can continue to peck away for opportunities, and stand up for our God. Unlike the bird, we don’t physically attack our adversaries, instead we apply diligence to hone our skills as we persist in prayer to chase away the enemy of our souls. We can peck away at the discouragement that would scamper about in our minds by spending time searching the Bible for examples of His love and help.
