Peckish and damn, I can bake what I want to eat now so self - TopicsExpress

Peckish and damn, I can bake what I want to eat now so self restraint has flown out of the window. Id steamed pumpkin and loads of cocoa powder so I hit the internet and eh, most easy recipes are those with two ingredients only; cake mix and pumpkin. I wanted to start from scratch but accidentally remembered Ive got a banana cake mix lying somewhere and could not, ahem, avoid the short cut. Recipe halve of what was meant for a real banana cake; banana cake mix 250 grams eggs 2 ( supposed to be one and a half but seriously, would you?! ) butter 90 grams I hate weighting things especially semi solids. Why cant they just say 3 happy scoops, one womans handful or however much that makes you happy? I mashed the pumpkin with a fork ( had some sadistic fun with it ) and did exactly that. Happy amount of pumpkin puree into the bread machine to mix with the rest waiting impatiently inside. Boy the mixture was really watery and I could see semi solid butter peppering the whole thing. Baaaaad baaaad feeling. Then again, its the same feeling whenever I bake so.... Next! After mixing using the Cake function on my Takada, I poured the soup yeah soupy soup into the tray, popped it in the oven and told myself, its okay if it doesnt grow. Water expands but it wont be a cake. Ding! Aiksssss! It has grown into a cake! Poke poke, soft with a gooey river in the middle. Cranked the oven again for another 15 mins on top of 30. River hardened a bit. What is wrong with you cake? Oh wait, it was born pretty wrong to start with. Okay, forgiven. And look, its so humble that it crumbles upon each lift of the spoon! Darn. But oh my, another delicious flop! Im seriously considering resigning to my fate that I am good at baking flops but am comforted by the fact that those flops often tastes delicious. Super fussy daughter enjoys it with whipped cream. Then again, she knows how to make me happy when shes got her wishlist all planned out. Happy weekend uols!
