Pedestrian footbridge underpass at Blackshaw Road The pedestrian footbridge underpass at Blackshaw Road will be dismantled for safety reasons. Following on from the June Ordinary Council Meeting, a second call for community feedback and consultation regarding the removal of an unsafe underpass footbridge at Blackshaw Road occurred. One submission was received and based on a variety of issues that were raised in this submission, Council recommended that the footbridge be dismantled for safety reasons. At the meeting, Council resolved to demolish the timber work and handrails to stop access, while the metal structure would remain in place. With several safe options of crossings from Eastgrove into the CBD, Council agreed that this crossing presented a high risk for pedestrians and did not limit safe access.
