Peeps, how about a look at how far we have come with our Olympic Hills park-in-the-making in the last year? Our first work party was in September 2013. We all barely knew each other; we thought we didnt know what the hell we were doing; the task was huge. Some of us werent sure how to use the tools we were holding. We went after 12-foot hedges of invasive Himalayan blackberries and choking tangles of other non-natives. (That was even before we dug up an entire engine block, unearthed a whole houses worth of carpeting, and inadvertently chopped open a buried canister of disabling crowd-control pepper-spray). See in these pictures how far we have come. Weve reclaimed and embraced this piece of land. Over time, we have come to learn the names of, greet, work with, and honor each other as neighbors. We just completed our 10th work party, and our spot and our community cohesion are thriving. Onward, neighbors and friends.
