Peggy Sue who SFA rescued a couple years ago in Raeford NC resides at this wonderful sanctuary. Many of you know we recently rescued several chickens, ducks, cats and pigs (some potbellies and 2 ferals) from a horrid place on Cherry Lane in Hoke County. As we found safety for the animals we were left with little hope for 2 Feral Pigs... Euthanasia would be the answer- Animal Controls option was to perform a Field Euthanasia as they are not equipped for large pigs. Field euthanasia is only done as a last resort - We checked with a few vets and offered to cover the costs to dart them and provide a more humane death for both the Feral Pigs. Our last hope: Cindy Bristow once again reached out to Richard Hoyle to see if just maybe he might be able to take the two pigs. He asked no questions - His reply was short and sweet and went something like this- "Sure I think they would love it here - hope you can help with their spay surgeries as it is costly for the Big Pigs." We are so grateful. Transport is being worked on at this time to get them to The Pig Preserve... not an easy task for 2 large piggies and is costly as well!
