Today Jews fear of revealing their identities in the modern - TopicsExpress

Today Jews fear of revealing their identities in the modern countries they live in. They fear of anti-Semitism and bullying. Some fear of losing their jobs and their friends. And some fear of even being murdered because of it. I dont have this fear. Having dual Finnish citizenship, I have been able to travel to remote Muslim Middle Eastern countries. And not once, if asked (and we all know that people like to ask) have I lied about where I come from. With a big grin on my face, I say I come from Israel to the 7 centimetred bearded Arab who Im sure is about to go psycho on me 😜 I am not Jewish. In fact, born to a Jewish secular dad and an atheist mom, I did not grow up with a religion. So why am I not scared? Why do I feel calm? Some think Im crazy. Some think Im in denial of the dangers it could attract. Many worry. But Im not in denial. Nor am I afraid. Nor have I lost my mind. People can take a lot away from you. Some lose everything. Some even lose their lives. But the thing that they wont ever be able to take away from me is my Jewish soul and pride. Its not about when or where or how you die. Its about how youre feeling inside if it was to happen to you tomorrow. Im going to die an incredibly proud Israeli. And that alone is an incredibly calming way to die.
