Pendulum Wave: Seems Like Magic, But Its Physics -- Real World Applications! Sometimes just witnessing a physics demonstration can inspire you to look more deeply into conceptual nature of the demonstration and strengthen critical thinking skills. This Pendulum Wave adds musical tone to a device crafted in a nature setting which provides an opportunity to examine processes such as climate change & the functioning of Ecological Zones like the Everglades/Rainforests in a larger context. It consists of a series of pendulums with increasing periods -- when simultaneously released, produce the effect of a changing transverse wave that cycles to apparent chaos then back toward beginning conditions of equilibrium -- when theres not extreme external interference. For example, in the premiere screening of This Land is a Skeleton at the 2014 Florida Documentary Film Festival, the Everglades is viewed as a completely unique ecosystem in utter chaos -- sandwiched by massive metropolitan areas. Efforts to preserve it can appear like a pendulum~wave~dance between special monied interests, craven politicians, & environmentalists. This short film also provided a personal touch with the intro of two people literally born in the Everglades: Michael Frank and Renee Manyari, two members of the Miccosukee Tribes Otter Clan & how their tribe life-way are drastcally altered by pollution and continual encroachment from Floridas agriculture industries. youtu.be/YhMiuzyU1ag
