Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office investigates armed robbery at Dysart’s Travel Stop in Newburgh On Friday August 8th at approximately 10:00 pm the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an armed robbery at the Dysart’s Travel Stop in Newburgh. A lone male entered the store moments before closing brandishing a handgun. He pushed a customer aside and then directed his attention toward two clerks working behind the counter. While waving the handgun erratically, he demanded money. The male was last seen fleeing from the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Although no one was injured in the incident the witnesses were visibly shaken by the threat of violence. The Sheriff’s Office has been aggressively investigating this incident and is asking for the public’s help. Dysart’s Travel Stop is located on Route 69 in Newburgh, next to the interstate. If anyone observed suspicious vehicles or persons in the area of Route 69, the North Road, Murray Road or North County Road between 9:00pm - 11:00pm, we ask that they contact the Sheriff’s Office at 947-4585. We have included some video from the stores surveillance system for the public to review.
