People are often transporting snakes for various reasons, and as - TopicsExpress

People are often transporting snakes for various reasons, and as it is not legislation of any kind as yet, those people are not required to declare that they have snakes, especially venomous snakes in transit. So in the event of an emergency or car accident, imagine the EMS arriving at the scene and helping as they do, and to their surprise find a snake which they most probably cannot identify and the RISK that could put those EMS workers under in they suddenly got bitten by a venomous snake which should not be the case at all. EMS personnel are there to save lives, and once they get to an accident scene, they should be able to minimise their own risk to their lives in order to help the casualties that they are there to assist... As it is not a requirement for EMS personnel to be able to identify all indigenous venomous snakes, as well as thousands of exotic venomous snakes (of which anti-venom is not readily available for most, and a bite from some can cost over R500,000.00 in some cases as well as the high risk of death if bitten), it is however easy for people to keep such dangerous reptiles, which is very common in South Africa. It is also not legislation for people who keep and transport such animals to display any type of notification to alert any EMS in case of an emergency that there is possibly a venomous animal on the loose as well as trying to help the individual, so sadly, in that case most people do not bother and carry on transporting dangerous animals... ? This solution, which I have personally used myself is a good option as it displays the info required. You may customise the design and add a number of your choice.
