People complaining about outsiders getting jobs. Yeah there have been some new people in town, Ive seen a lot of teachers come in. Are you certified to teach? You going to hate on them for coming into the villages and helping our kids get an education because there arent people who choose to go into this profession because the pay isnt great?! I see doctors and nurses come into the hospital. You want their job? Go to school a minimum of a few years and thats probably to be a health aide. You want to be a doctor try at least 10 years. You want a job being an operator? Sober the hell up and apply for classes at Ilisagvik. Lots of options out there. Lots of good dedicated people wanting to help you succeed in landing one of those jobs that you cant get. Stop blaming others for coming in and taking stuff. Get up off your bottle and show you want to work. All you people complaining about the mayor not doing anything. Ill be dammed if I heard Rome was built in a day. You want successful, long lasting programs? They arent coming out of a cracker jack box. People complaining about having no house to buy? Build your credit, save your divies, then go to the bank and talk to a loan officer. Im sure those out of towners would love to help you buy a home. Oh yeah, dont forget if it wasnt for outsiders you wouldnt have phones, internet, groceries, education, health, oil for your divies, hondas, trucks, whos going to service your ride, pop, plane trips to the places you want to go, those TV shows you like to sit around and watch while those outsiders come in and get YOUR jobs. My favorite outsiders to hear of our church leaders. Those people dont care. Pssshhh. Yall putting outsiders in there like theyre a bad thing. Give me a break. I thought I wont say anything because those are your opinions and we are entitled, I suppose. Remember, some people fall in love with Barrow and the villages. Those who come to earn a buck and not to enjoy a life up here dont last anyway. Dont assume just because they arent Iñupiaq that they dont love Barrow.
