People keep bashing Jeter and the Farewell Tour... the latter of which I can understand, and no, Jeter is not the GREATEST player or Yankee of all time, but heres what Derek Jeter really is... Hes the last remnant of a dynasty long gone. From 1996 - 2001 there was arguably no better team in all of baseball than the New York Yankees... From the first World Series win in almost 20 years, the magic of 1998, and the Subway World Series of 2000... Some say what about 2009? and honestly I say that the Yankees just had things go their way and things clicked just enough for a title, but it wasnt like the past... Derek Jeter was a big part of a great Yankee era and Yankee fans, as I am, are REALLY nostalgic... Take nothing away from the Captain, a sure fire hall of famer, a gentleman who played the game right, on and off the field, and yes, the only career Yankee in the 3000 hit club, but really, its his part in the dynasty... The memories he and the others created are now ONLY memories... As the Captain, and the Voice, Bob Sheppard, make their exits from the Yankees and baseball an era that was really over a long time ago can finally Rest In Peace...
