People often ask us what John does on his trips to PNG. Heres a snapshot of what John and his team of volunteer medics achieved on their recent trip - John flew numerous medivac flights to the larger hospital on the coast, taking women with difficult pregnancies and locals with wounds and ulcers who needed scans and x-rays. The plane had oxygen bottles and medical supplies on board as well as food for the mission, because bad weather had prevented fruit and veggies from growing. Surgeon Peter Denton and his wife who is a nurse assisted the local nurses – treating a neuroma on a man’s back the size of a football, draining swollen infected limbs and vaccinating 140 school children who walked for 2 days through the jungle to the mission, from their little school. Thank goodness for the generosity of volunteers like these, who are willing to give up their time to help people in this remote region.
