People probably have noticed that I posted a number of videos the past two days, all of which are about volunteering. I would like to make, post, and share many more videos like this. 1. These videos will help you improve your public speaking skills. 2. You can use these videos, both on Facebook and in other ways, to communicate with the general public. 3. When youre looking for resource support (money, people, skills, locations, events), having videos that like these is very useful. You can use these videos when you make grants to charities, individuals, NGOs, embassies, ministries, etc. 4. These videos work best when they are in several languages. On Friday, we made videos in English and Bengali, which is good, but I also would like people to make videos in Chittagonian and also other minority languages from Chittagong: Marma, Chakma, Rohingya, Bawm, Kok Borok (Tripura), Urdu. 5. We can also use languages other than English to communcate with people from other countries. Do you know people who are from Korea, China,Taiwan or other countries who would like to make videos in their languages? 6. And remember. These are DIY videos (DIY = do it yourself). They are not professional quality, and thats actually OK. We dont have to be media professionals to share our messages with others. 7. And a few words of advice on DIY videos. a) shorter is better, with 1-3 minutes probably the best length, b) if you have more than 1-3 minutes of ideas (and, of course you do!), then try to make several different videos, all short, c) speak a little more loudly, clearly, and slowly than you normally would...my little camera does not have a fancy directional microphone d) DIY projects are great because they make the line between producer and consumer less clear, which means that its easier of us ordinary people to start to make and share videos and other documents to share our ideas, our experiences, our hopes, our problems.
