Per Lyndas request, Im posting my flight training update: There hasnt been any flight training. :/ My next main step was the long cross country solo (3.4 hours I needed to clock on this trip). When I ran out of money I was grounded for a bit, but I was still saving up hoping Id be able to fly within the first or second week of August. Well, my plane was down for the 100hr maintenance for a while. So I just kept saving up. Then my aunt and grandma were in town for a week from Southern California, and they had really wanted to go fly with me. So I took them on a scenic tour of the area in another plane that wasnt down for maintenance. Then a week later I noticed my plane was going to be done, so I booked the next available opening to go fly my long cross country. I had everything planned out, all the airport diagrams, and I was ready to go! I started the plane, went through the run up – no problems! (Considering I hadnt really flown for over a month!). Took off without any issues and was trying to open my flight plan and get flight following. Unfortunately, my radios werent exactly cooperating and NorCal couldnt locate my squawk code. Since I was still close to the airport (and my mechanic), I decided Id turn around and have him take a look. And then my radios and all other electronics quit working completely. Lovely. So I landed and parked it right in front of our mechanic and he said, What did you do?. To which I replied, How come you didnt fix the plane?? Well it turns out, the alternator went out, which caused the battery to die completely. So they took it apart and shipped the parts back to the factory. And now Im waiting for my plane to get fixed, again. :/ So for the past two months Ive been learning a lot of patience, thats for sure! I guess the most frustrating thing is that Im so close to being done, but things keep coming up out of my control. So...Im just waiting now. :)
