Perhaps it is my age but everyday my goal is to generate memories that comfort me and that is what inspires me to do the little things to let those with whom I interact know that I appreciate what brief time we have together. And I do this because I am a selfish man. I want more memories than regrets in my life and I am willing to put the effort required to generate them and if it happens to be a positive experience for others, that is a side effect that I can embrace. I find it to be amazing. Like me.
