Perhaps its hopeless. You know, this change thing.... I mean they Governments and Military Industry have it pretty much under control.... They start and maintain wars with impunity. They lie in public as to their intent. They cover up their crimes, and when the crimes are exposed they just brazen it out, knowing no-one is really going to confront them, or bring any of them to a meaningful trial. WWI, Gaza, Ukraine, Congo, East Timor etc are all outcomes of a culture of Violent Power, a culture that still dominates all our lives..a culture most of us vote for, pay for .... there is no point in looking for a single cause in each case.. What caused WWI? Nothing but the existence of a violent power culture -I think all this looking at any other answer is looking for scapegoats. Wars are business for that culture, and between the competitor Powers, its just another days work. Its a pathological Institutional Culture, a Traumatocracy and whilst we at the grass roots might be unable to do much about it, lacking any real power in terms of resisting state violence.., As in the UK Populations failure to stop our Government sending our boys to Iraq and Afghanistan. Theres not much imagination or desire amongst the UK Population to protect the most vulnerable, the working poor, the disabled from the depredations of Ian Duncan Smith. At best, given current circumstances, if we can understand that system, see it for what it really is, and at the very least free ourselves AND OUR CHILDREN from the Religious and Ideological Indoctrination and conditioning that seeks to internalise values of that power system into our children, and thus slowly over generations, reduce the numbers of people who join in, who participate at the grass roots. Let the Power players do their own warring. Perhaps this is all we can really hope to achieve?
