Perhaps the most charming aspect of being an official criminal -- a state official in the course of his normal activities -- is that he need never break the law. However much he may violate the natural law, he does so with impunity, and therefore he may enjoy his true criminality without tears or regrets -- indeed, he may publicly flaunt his misdeeds and receive loud applause. Of course, in order to legalize his crimes, he and his fellows may need to issue an executive order, enact a statute, or appoint a compliant judge, but such tasks are all in a days work for these hifalutin hoodlums.
