Perhaps this is one of the most important reads for today. Just as the animosity and political/cultural clash between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, and the proxy wars fought directly and indirectly between them, defined the era between WWII and the collapse of the the USSR, todays clash between the House of Saud and the Ayatollahs in Iran (Sunnis vs. Shiite) is redefining the Middle East. As the author states, borders imposed on the area by the West after the Great Wars are collapsing, and the bloody carnage that we are witnessing by the likes of ISIS in Syria and Iraq is only a beginning. If Iran becomes a nuclear power, the Saudis have a plan (their friends in Pakistan) to reciprocate. The rise of the Caliphate is on the horizon... who will be the leader? Yet to be determined.
