Personal little story Was just thinking how I delibrated so much over going to the FAC 51 The Hacienda new years eve party last year the line up was so awsome Frankie Knuckles Fan Page Marshall Jefferson Graeme Park TODD TERRY 808 State and many more. Tickets had sold out but then a family member posted on Facebook the night before new years eve she had 2 to sell. My partner was over from Bristol at my hometown in Sheffield and I said to him lets do it!! He was well up for it too but I was moving to Bristol the next day and had my whole family to move. I deliberated for so long on what to do and should I just move still half cut from the massive party. In the end I decided to be grown up and act responsible and that I couldnt move a whole house full and family from Sheffield to Bristol after a mammoth party session like that. I even said to my partner that you dont get to see these legends play together all the time anymore especially on haci night in Manni. I said that it might not happen again. Also I have never seen Frankie play even though he is my all time hero - i worried to may partner what if I dont get another chance to see him play out again. I never ended up going that night. Time passed and went - Then I saw Frankie on the FOUND Line up I bought my ticket. I also saw him on a line up Egg London again I deliberated to go but decided I would wait until Found. He was also on a line up for Gatecrasher Birmingham - my sister saw it and said she would like to see him as she is only 24 and had never seen him. I told her to go. A few days before he was due to lay at Egg I noticed an announcement that said he couldnt make it due to illness, my heart sank...i hoped he would get better. Dj David Morales played in his place. Then on the 1st April I heard the news...Frankie had passed over the night before - I couldnt believe it...no one could...some people even stupidly questioned was it an Aprils Fools...I said no one would ever disrespect the Godfather of House the Legend and master in such a way...unfortunately it was true and that was a day every true house head from across the globe felt a pain in their heart. We lost our founder. I will always regret not going to see Frankie at that Haci night last new year. I had never ever got the privilege to see him play and I never will now in this life. I ended up selling my Found ticket it wouldnt have been the same for me now Frankie was not playing. (Even though the line up was still banging) I will always follow my heart now and not my head especially when it comes the biggest love of my life (after family and friends) the music. Life is too short not too. RIP Frankie - we lost a gud en x
