Personally, I feel, when u re outnumbered immensely for eg (100:8 officers) in a riot situation, u should hold the line and defend or retreat to consolidate. In our case, the end result was quite positive, no one else ended up dead and there was no allegations of police brutality. Ive personally seen the sectarian violence during the Arab spring and the uprising in Bahrain. In another scene, together with three Arab security officers we were also surrounded by more than 500 angry protestors. One of my officer who happened to have a revolver informed that he could shoot. I said no. Yes, the feeling was certainly not nice. Thoughts racing through your mind how do I diffuse this situation? How do I protect my officers? How do I make sure that no one gets killed?
