Pet Of The Month November 2014 Our first basenji, Sedona, was quite a handful and we had read they can be better in pairs, so Nick and I went on the hunt for a second basenji to join our family. It turns out Sedonas brother had just had a litter of puppies, so we quickly made arrangements to scoop up one of the girls. We were living in Houston at the time and drove to a suburb of Baton Rouge to pick up Sadie who was originally named Kissey because she liked to lick faces. Now, 12 years later, shes been with us since she was 8 weeks old. When we Sedona died, Sadie seemed so sad. She would sit by the front door as if waiting for him to come home. After a few months, we decided she really needed a friend and started looking for another basenji. We found a five month old Pineaux (originally Lefty) in Santa Rosa. He was the most docile of the puppies left and so we knew he would fit right in with Sadie. On the drive home, we found out he gets carsick! So, after multiple stops, we finally got him home where it only took a few hours for Sadie to decide he could stay. We love our fur babies! They Love While You R Away Professional Pet Care.
