Pet peeve of mine. When YP are going on camps abroad - mainly applies to explorers I suppose. Getting their vaccines up to date! If I hear another explorer tell me theyve had all their jabs when they were at school Im gonna scream. Always check you dont need a booster or a vaccine youve never had. Even within Europe, you may need a new jab. It totally depends on the area and where youre going and what youre going to be doing there. I say this as someone who went to Africa fully upto date and still got an infection from a bite, fortunately it. Cleared up in two weeks. My fiancé on the other hand spent a week in hospital after being bitten and we still dont know what it was. Remember, once youve had malaria, thats it. You have it for life and can get flare ups at any time. Rabies is a death sentence if not treated straight away. Check out the medical availability of where you travel. I go to Zimbabwe a lot - nearest competent hospital is in South Africa. So checkout what you need! /end rant
