Peter Utaka Floors Yakubu Ex-national team star, Peter Utaka has taken shine off fellow-Super Eagles outcast, Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Yak Attack), as the former OB Odense of Denmark hitman took his stock to a higher pedestal, following his fourth and fifth goals of the season in the Chinese Super League, where he lines out for Beijing Guoan, which he joined in the off-season. Peter Utaka’s goals secured a 2-0 win for Guoan against Shanghai Shenhua in a Week 26 clash at The Workers Stadium, as he hit target once in each half to take his team to third spot on the standings. Since Utaka’s arrival at Beijing Guoan early this summer, the 29-year-old former Eagles invitee has continued on a roller-coaster, thereby helping the capital side occupy third position in the standings with 43 points. In similar style, fellow-China-based former Eagles striker, Aiyegbeni returned to goals scoring form, despite an injury scare that hit him recently, as he made the best of his starting role to snatch a hat-trick with Guangzhou R&F penultimate Sunday. Yakubu scored in the sixth minute through a penalty to draw level his team at 1-1. He then fired his second goal in the 46th minute to take the scores to 3-2 in favour of the visitors. The ex-Okomu Oil of Benin City, Julius Berger of Lagos and Maccabi Haifa of Israel as well as Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers of England star completed his hat-trick with another penalty in the 90th minute. However, while Yak took his goals haul for the season to 12 goals, his treble was not enough for double celebration, as his team lost 5-3 at home to Guizhou Renhe, which left Guangzhou R&F sixth on the league table with 32 points from 25 matches.
