Petite papa noel, the first track on the Album chant noel is a traditional Christmas song sung by the Tino Rossi, and is the first song that comes to mind when the French think of Christmas music. It’s considered a real cheesy tune, so finding an arrangement was difficult. At the time I did the vocal arrangement, I was listening to Radiohead’s hail to the thief and The beach boys Pet sounds. So I thought why don’t I change the chords to the chorus to follow the progression of Creep by Radiohead, Use the bridge to have some beachboy harmonies, and throw in a bit of the carpenters, and voila! I was surprised by what André Manoukian added instrumentally. I really like the California vibe that the guitar part brings to the song. How did this project come about? Started in 2011 when I received a phone call 15 minutes before leaving to attend and sing with the choir for a very dear choristes funeral who had passed away suddenly while riding his bike in the mountains. It had been a very hard year for me and the choir. We had seen 2 other chorale members pass away and who soon have another making that five, and the son of a very dear friend and choral singer as well. The person on the phone said they were looking to produce an album with a choir and that they really liked what they saw on my then website. I was thinking this was some sort of scam where they would ask for 1000€ and in return record us or something like that, so I asked them to send me an e-mail about the project and if the producer wanted to give me a call I what be available the next day……. Quand on m’a dit on ferait le petit papa noël pour le disque, je me suis dit oh la la…Qu’Est qu’on va faire pour rendre cette chanson pas ringarde. A se moment j’ai écouté bcp « Hail to the thief » de Radiohead, et les Beach boys disque « pet sounds ». Donc j’ai changé les accords du refrain, si vous écouté bien sa suivre le même progression que “creep” de Radio Head. Apres le pont j’ai rajouté des harmonies des beach boys et avec sa un peu des Carpteners pour le couplé et voila ! Une version de Petite Papa noël fraiche. Comment ce projet est-il né ? Commencé en 2011, lorsque je ai reçu un appel téléphonique 15 minutes avant de allé à assister et à chanter avec le chœur pour une choristes très cher funérailles qui avaient décédé subitement alors quil circulait à vélo dans les montagnes . Il avait été une année très difficile pour moi et le chœur. Nous avions vu deux autres membres de la chorale passai et plus tard dans le été un 4eme, et le fils dun ami très cher et chanteur dans la chorale ainsi . La personne au téléphone a dit quils cherchaient à produire un album avec une chorale et quils ont vraiment aimé ce quils ont vu sur mon site web. Je pensais que ce était une sorte descroquerie où ils demanderaient 1000 € et en retour nous enregistrer ou quelque chose comme ça, donc je leur ai demandé de me envoyer un e -mail sur le projet et si le producteur a voulu me donner un appel je serai ce disponibles le lendemain…….
