Petitions do work:Dear Arvind - Last week we scored a landmark victory to end animal cruelty in India -- a ban on all animal testing for cosmetics in India! We couldn’t have done this without your support. After more than a year of intensive campaigning and support of more than 9,700 signatures including yours, the Bureau of Indian Standards, under the leadership of the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has announced a ban on animal testing for cosmetics in India. We have come a long way to end the cruel practice of animal testing for cosmetics but our work isn’t done yet. A ban on animal testing will not make sense if such cosmetics can still be imported from other countries. India should ban the import and sale of cosmetics that have been tested on animals anywhere in the world. We now know that the DCGI responds to the public opinion. We will soon meet the DCGI and ask him ban the import of animal tested cosmetics. If thousands more sign this petition, we can show the DCGI that people of the country want him to ban the import of animal tested cosmetics. Forward this email to your friends and family asking them to sign this petition. Once again, a heartfelt thanks to all of you -- without your support it would not have been possible for us to achieve this. Lets take one last step and end animal cruelty in cosmetics in India. Looking forward to your support, Alokparna via Change.org
