PORTAGE WOMEN’S POOL LEAGUE RULES 2012-2013 1. Players must be of legal drinking age. 2. $4.00 per person or $16.00 total per team. There is a .10 cent scratch fee and a .25 cent scratch fee on the 8 ball. Scratch fees are to be collected by the home team and turned in with game fees and a score sheet from each team by 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. There is a late fee of $1.00 for Thursday, $5.00 for Friday and every day after until all is paid in full. The money and the score should be turned in and dropped off at the Cottonwood or Full Throttle. $35.00 entry fee is to be paid within 2 weeks of league start. 3. This year is open break again. Open break means: Player breaks the rack and makes a ball, that player still has a choice to make a solid or a stripe no matter which ball goes in. If player misses, opponent has “choice”. You can use a stripe into a solid or vise versa until the table is closed. 4. Any movement of any ball outside a shot, due to a bump or otherwise, is a foul and is to ONLY be called by the opposing player BEFORE the next shot is made. When shooting at the 8-ball, if you make the eight and foul that is a loss of game. A game is not over until all balls on the table have stopped. Captains should settle all disputes. 5. If opponent scratches when all your balls are in the kitchen, you have the option of having your highest numbered ball spotted (including the eight ball). The ball must be spotted by your opponent and placed on the spot. If other balls are blocking the spot, the ball is to be placed directly behind and as close to the spot as possible without moving other balls. 6. CALL ALL POCKETS & BALLS! All games are straight eight-ball. The 8-ball in NOT neutral. If any part of a ball is in the kitchen, it is all in the kitchen. At no time may a player use her opponent’s ball to get hers in. A ball is spotted if it leaves the table, not including the cue ball. When you scratch, you MUST let the cue ball fall in the pocket, do NOT grab the ball as it is falling in the pocket. 7. Game time is 7:00 p.m. regular time on Tuesday night unless other arrangements have been made. Two (2) players form each team must be at the bar and have the schedule made out by 7:00 p.m. The 3rd and 4th player has until 7:30 p.m. If all players are not there by 7:30 p.m., and have called to say they are running late. It is up to the captains to decide whether they will wait, skip and come back to or forfeit their game. (also keep the player it involves informed of your decision) Captains from both teams must agree if there are any changes in the line-up. 4 players per team must have at least 3 players to play. 8. There will be a time limit of One (1) minute per shot and five (5) minutes between games. If your next player is not in the bar when it is time for their game, it is an automatic forfeit of the game. 9. If a whole team forfeits more than three (3) separate nights, or reschedules more than three (3) separate nights, that team is out of the league and the scores will be wiped out completely. If a team forfeits for the night, the opponents will get 12 wins and both teams will still have to pay their $16.00 each for the night. (Reminders- if this team forfeits one game in the first half and two games in the second half all games will be wiped out to the half way point.) If you want to make up the game, it is optional- decision is determined by Captains/Co-Captains). 10. A flip of a coin will determine who breaks first. Home team will pay the money for the first game. Thereafter- winner breaks and loser(s) rack and pay. 11. All arguments are to be settled by the Captains. If the Captains cannot settle the dispute, the game will be replayed or call the President. 12. No heckling of any players while shooting. In case of a player being evicted from the bar, the captain must find a sub for that night or forfeit three games. If this happens please call the President or Secretary about the occurance. 13. A bartender has 15 minutes to stop any hassles from a customer. If the bartender cannot do this, call the President or Secretary. The remaining games will be played on a neutral table. The same rules apply if the bartender is the heckler. 14. One (1) foot on the floor at all times. Opposing players cannot be near the table while the opponent is shooting and must stand a reasonable distance away. At NO time may a player stop a ball from going into the pocket. 15. All bars MUST have a crutch and at least one cue stick in the bar. 16. In the event of bad weather, the President has the say for that night to be cancelled. Both team captains agree to play, they may do so. President will notify Captains. If one team cannot make it, the captain or co-captain of that team is to call the captain or co-captain of the other team by 6:00 pm to reschedule the game. 17. If you are the player who breaks, you are given two (2 attempts) to break, after that, your opponent breaks. (Only the player breaking can ask opponent for a re –rack of the balls). 18. Rotation of the players on the score sheet is to be arranged- however, both captains can agree as long as you don’t play the same player twice. Visiting team must rotate. 19. Jump shots and masse are allowed only with a legal jump stick. The back of the cue stick must stay within a 45 degree angle or shoulder height. 20. Subs are free agents. Your team’s full-time sub may play in the play-off, but they must play one (1) game during the league season. Top shooters must have played 75% of total games played for league season. Once you are a universal sub, you may not play in the play-off. 21. All Captains should keep a copy of the score sheet in case of a conflict of scores. 22. In the event of a bye. No full-time player can sub for another team. If caught playing on another team, that team will forfeit all twelve (12) games to the opposing team. 23. ABSOLUTELY NO COACHING 24. Let’s all have a fun year and play nice…. : ) IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS CONCERNING THESE RULES, CONTACT THE PRESIDENT OR SECRETARY
